From a base at the Milton Keynes Business Centre caterers The Phat Pasty Co kept workers warm in the January cold snap with their specially converted camper vans delivering hot lunches and snacks to snow bound customers. But the company bosses – Phat Controllers Paul and Laura Clark – have their eyes on a sunnier future as the business enters a new phase of growth in 2010.

MKThey have established a franchise operation and hope to see at least six franchises operating in the near future. Longer term the goal is to have 300 franchises established over the next three years.

Having originally started from a home base The Phat Pasty Co moved at an early stage to the Milton Keynes Business Centre and since then Laura and Paul have quickly expanded their operations.

Now the eye catching business is hitting the headlines. It recently won the prestigious Lunch National Retailer Of The Year Award for 2009 and the company has been featured on BBC TV’s popular Working Lunch business programme http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/working_lunch.

Paul Clark says: “It was excellent publicity for us and we have already had a big response from potential franchisees. It’s a very exciting time for the company and the great challenge is for us to grow while still keeping to our high standards in all areas of the business.”

Milton Keynes Business Centre Manager Lynn Patey-Smith said: “We have seen Paul and Laura grow their business successfully in a very short time and wish them every success in their franchise venture.”
