Manager of St George’s Business Park Leigh Kedwell is now in the final countdown for his marathon charity bike ride scheduled for the end of May. Leigh is raising funds for Help for Heroes, the leading charity helping wounded servicemen and women returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. Former gunner Leigh will join hundreds of charity riders at Portsmouth on 24 May for the start of the gruelling charity challenge.

From a starting point alongside Nelson’s flagship HMS Victory the riders will take an overnight ferry to Le Havre to begin a 377 mile circuit in Northern France.

After crossing World War 1 battlefields and reaching Ypres the ride finishes at Dunkirk on 30 May, timed to coincide with the anniversary of the World War 2 evacuation.

Leigh says: “The starting date is now coming up fast and we are making all the final preparations. There has been fantastic support and I would like to thank everyone for their continuing help.”

Among latest contributions has been a range of football memorabilia for raffle, including a signed football from the Chelsea team and a Spurs pennant. These have been provided by Peter Rivers of Linkmore Management whose firm is based at the Waterhouse Business Centre at Chelmsford.

Leigh is being backed by individual and corporate sponsors. If you would like to help either contact him direct at bike@fsmail.net or speak to a Centre Manager or member of staff and they will put you in touch.

Help for Heroes aims to provide long-term solutions to the problems faced by those with long-term injuries. The charity supplements and enhances available facilities so that those in rehabilitation get the very best care and treatment. Servicemen and women need long term support to recover from their injuries and to rebuild their careers.
