Peter Boam said that David Clapham was a valued and trusted colleague whose commitment had been a significant factor in driving the company forward to success.

He said: “We have been through exciting times and difficult times and for our team it’s been a great journey. David was there to contribute wise advice, offer encouragement and provide leadership. We would like to say a very big thank you to him. He knows that we are going to miss him greatly.

“David will always be looking for the next challenge and we wish him well in what we know will be an incredibly active future.”

Prior to joining CEC David Clapham worked at a senior level for leading UK companies including Sainsbury’s, where after a long career he was appointed to the Group Board.

David Clapham said he was sad to be leaving CEC but knew that the company had a tremendous future. It was based on sure foundations with a commitment to support and encourage businesses, offering them outstanding value and service.

He said: “The Company has achieved so much and a distinctive CEC approach and brand have been established that will stand the test of time. I know the team will go on to even greater success.”

The staff at CEC Centres will now be led by Operations Manager Steve Plant. He has wide national and international experience in the retail business and in consultancy and is a former Head of Retail Operations for the House of Fraser.
