Milton Keynes Business Centre is now at the hub of a new global network which offers world class pharmaceutical training to overseas students. ICRI Global Research, which has taken a dedicated building at the Centre, is increasingly making use of remote learning via video conference to give its postgraduate students access to leading edge expertise in the UK.

Students, currently mainly from the Indian sub continent who are studying at ICRI’s campus in Singapore for a Masters in Clinical Research, are able to access additional advanced teaching direct from ICRI at Milton Keynes.

ICRI Chief Executive Professor Anthony Woodman says that video conferencing from purpose-built training rooms is proving to be a highly effective method of teaching.

He says: “It is particularly important for our students to be taught on an international basis and to be able to access expertise from Europe and the United States.

“We are now able to easily bring in colleagues from Milton Keynes and Northampton Hospitals, Cranfield University and the Institute of Clinical Research to give academic tuition on a remote basis to small groups of postgraduates.

“Overall the response from students has been very positive and this video conferencing is a development that we will continue to make use of and develop further.”

Professor Woodman praised the Centre for making available the latest IT on which ICRI could base its approach.

He added: “The advanced and reliable IT services available at the Milton Keynes Business Centre made this a very practical initiative for us to adopt. We know can always rely on the prompt support provided by the on-site Centre team.”

ICRI Global Research specialises in research, consultancy and training for individuals, pharmaceutical companies, clinical research organisations and academic institutions. The company supports research in emerging markets particularly South and South East Asia.

ICRI formally opened its facility in the Office Village at the Milton Keynes Business Centre in February and will expand its operations further in September at the start of the new academic year.
