02.05.07 Charity Walkers seek Sponsors

CEC’s Greenway Business Centre team are joining in a bid to raise more than £1m for the Macmillan cancer charity.

Centre Manager Lorraine King and her assistants Michelle Ellis and Annette Morris have signed up for a ten mile sponsored walk as part of the Macmillan 2007 Walk Wonders initiative.

They already have a range of sponsors, including CEC colleagues and many businesses from the Greenway Centre, but they are looking for more! If you or your business would like to become a sponsor contact Lorraine on 01279 408100 or e-mail lorraine.king@capitalspace.co.uk.

On Sunday 20 May the team will tackle a Macmillan Walk route which starts at Bishop’s Stortford and provides a circular course running along the River Stort and following part of the Hertfordshire Way.

Lorraine said they had been delighted with the response from CEC colleagues and from Centre businesses.

She said: “We have had great support already but of course we are still seeking further sponsors to provide an even bigger cheque for Macmillan. We are also going to need to do some training as none of us regularly walks ten miles!”

CEC Business Centres, including the Greenway Business Centre, regularly support the Macmillan Trust through participation in the annual World’s Biggest Coffee Morning which last year raised £6.7m. Watch out for this year’s Morning on Friday 28 September.

Meanwhile sponsorship of Walk Wonders is open until 18 May. Contact Greenway Business Centre Manager Lorraine King on 01279 408100 or e-mail lorraine.king@capitalspace.co.uk.
