24.08.06 Capital Business Centre set for expansion
Capital Enterprise Centres is planning a major £2m expansion of the Capital Business Centre in Croydon. Currently a planning application is being submitted to Croydon Council for more than 1,500 square metres of office, workshop and storage space. The new space will feature a dedicated headquarters building for Switch Communications and a terrace of four more of the popular workshops. Switch is a fast growing Croydon high tech company specialising in voice and data systems using fixed and mobile technologies.
CEC Operations Director David Clapham says demand for space at the Centre remains high and the company is delighted to be able to take the next stage of development forward to include a pre-let headquarters building.
He said: “Our initial research showed that Croydon has a dynamic economy and we have been pleased to see so many innovative businesses moving in to create a thriving business hub. High tech, service, and leisure companies have all made the Centre their base.
“We have an ideal site for the new buildings on an elevated self contained plot just inside the entrance to the Centre. Construction will go ahead there with a minimum of disruption.”
Around 50 companies operate from the Capital Business Centre, situated conveniently off Carlton Road, with controlled access offering a high level of security.
