11.01.07 Early Sign-up for Waterhouse extension
Demand for space in the new extension at the Waterhouse Business Centre is so high that the first units are being snapped up months before completion is due.Tool House (UK) Ltd has already taken 895 sq ft of office and workshop space and a keen interest is being shown by several other businesses.
CEC Operations Director David Clapham said that good progress was being made with the £3m expansion scheme which will provide managed office and workshop space for more than 20 companies.
He said: The Waterhouse Business Centre has been a great success and we have seen sustained demand for both offices and workshops. There is always a waiting list of businesses eager to move in and we are delighted to see businesses already signing agreements for the new units being built.
The location of the Centre gives tenants easy access to transport links with ample free parking. A high level of security is also offered on the self-contained site off Cromar Way, with a palisade fence and CCTV monitoring.
The Centre is designed to be environmentally friendly and recycling facilities are provided to minimise waste. Green travel to work is encouraged by the provision of bicycle storage and a shower.
The 18,000 sq ft extension is being constructed to the same high standards as the original Centre buildings and completes the courtyard style development of the site.
David Clapham said that a thriving business community had been already been established with more than 60 companies operating from the Waterhouse Business Centre and CEC was delighted to be able to provide the space for further expansion.
He said: We hope by the end of May to be able to see the first businesses moving in to the new extension and we will continue to review the options for development at Chelmsford.
