Circular light tubes, seen here bring natural daylight direct to the office suite

Sustainable Development

The team at Capital Enterprise Centres takes its responsibility for attractive, practical and sustainable developments very seriously. During all new building works, the opportunity to install appropriate energy saving measures such as PIR controls in the toilets always features in the design. A new feature used at Croydon for the first time is 'light tubes' which bring natural daylight into central areas of the building. The photo alongside shows the ceiling in an area at Croydon where you can see the effect of the circular 'light tubes' compared to the conventional standard light fittings.

Cardboard recycling facilities at Capital Buisness Centre, Croydon

Environmental

At the end of the construction phase we landscape as many areas as possible in order to create a pleasant working environment. During September 2006 our Croydon Centre Manager was presented with the Certificate of Excellence by Croydon Mayor Councillor Janet Marshall at a London in Bloom awards ceremony at the Arnhem Gallery, Fairfield Halls. The Centre was given the award for the extensive use of colourful and highly aromatic heather in landscaping surrounding the new purpose built Business Centre.

Once a business centre is operational our Centre Managers arrange recycling facilities for cardboard, paper and print cartridges. The skip for cardboard featured alongside is located at Capital Business Centre, Croydon.

Green energy from the new biomass boiler at Milton Keynes Buisness Centre

Milton Keynes renewable energy

The Milton Keynes Business Centre has Capital Enterprise Centres' first example of a heating boiler designed to provide energy from renewable sources. This innovation demonstrates the company's commitment to sustainable development.
The wood burning boiler, which will provide heat to the main office and studio buildings, uses wood-chip fuel from renewable sources.
