25.08.06 Harlow MP Bill Rammell backs call to extend bus service
Click here to add your supportHarlow MP Bill Rammell has added his backing to a call to extend bus services into Harlow Business Park. The MP signed a petition to Arriva, which is being drawn up by local businesses.
He said: We need to do all we can to make it easy and convenient to use public transport to get to work. Its good to see that bus services are increasingly popular and that businesses are supporting the use of public transport.
Petition organiser Lorraine King, manager of the Greenway Business Centre, said the campaigners were delighted to have the support of Bill Rammell.
She said: Its a major step forward for us and will help highlight the problem we face. Businesses are finding that it is much more difficult to recruit staff without a bus service and as the Business Park grows the situation will get worse.
We hope Arriva will agree quickly to extend the service and we would welcome the chance to discuss where an additional stop or stops could be sited.
Harlow Chamber of Commerce is circulating the petition and Lorraine King can be contacted at the Greenway Business Centre tel: 01279 408100 or e-mail lorraine.king@capitalspace.co.uk.
