19.02.08 Milton Keynes Business Centre Powers Ahead

More than 23 companies are now operating from the new Milton Keynes Business Centre, which has successfully attracted a very broad range of businesses since opening its doors in January.

Companies in IT, the service sector, property, and the security business are among those moving into the state of the art £8.8m Business Centre at Linford Wood. Offices, studios and workshops on the campus style development are set to accommodate up to 90 companies.

Centre Manager Lynn Patey-Smith says interest in the Milton Keynes Business Centre continues to remain high with the ability to combine units flexibly being a major bonus.

She said: “Businesses can put together a workspace package that is just right for them using office, workshop and studio units and we work with companies to provide a tailor made solution to their accommodation requirements.

“We have been delighted by the early take up of units in the first weeks of the New Year and each day the Centre is becoming busier as new companies move in.”

The early success of the Centre is highlighted by the decision to launch a business café on site to provide catering for the growing number of businesses.

Business cafés are already well established at a number of CEC Centres and Ahmet Uzun, operator of the Ora Café at the Greenway Business Centre in Harlow, will launch a similar venture in Milton Keynes.

Lynn Patey-Smith added: “We hope to see the café open in the spring and become a focus for social and business networking. It’s all part of building a Centre that is attractive and convenient to work from.”

CEC lets space on a simple monthly licence with an all-in-one fee that includes on-site management, maintenance, building insurance, refuse collection, security, water rates and the cleaning of common areas. Flexible easy in – easy out terms allow businesses to set up and expand without commitment to long-term agreements.

The on-site Centre Manager provides building management services and supervises administrative support, meeting room management, telecommunications and postal services. In addition to the full range of office, studio and workshop space the Centre also offers a comprehensive Virtual Service for businesses working from home and a full range of business continuity arrangements for larger companies.
