11.07.05 MP Praises Innovative Harlow Businesses
Harlow businesses which put innovation at the heart of their planning are set for fast track growth, says the town’s MP Bill Rammell.Mr Rammell was visiting the new Chamber of Commerce offices at the Greenway Business Centre on Harlow Business Park and was briefed on the latest moves to increase competitiveness.
He said: “All entrepreneurs have to be willing to innovate and invest in the skills needed to turn good ideas into practical business ventures if they are to compete effectively. That’s why I was so impressed with the practical steps being taken by businesses here in Harlow to ensure they are equipped to meet the challenge of competition in the future.”
Mr Rammell praised the way in which Harlow Chamber of Commerce was working with Harlow Centre for Business Support, Business Link for Essex and the Essex Learning & Skills Council to offer advice to businesses on innovation and skill training.
He added: “Businesses that invest in ideas and in new skills for their workers have an exciting future and will be at the heart of economic growth. Many small companies in Harlow are leading the way and at Business Centres such as Greenway you can see clearly that innovation brings success.”
CEC Operations Director David Clapham introduced Mr Rammell to several businesses that have recently set up or expanded using the Centre as their base. Mr Rammell also met advisers from Harlow Centre for Business Support, who regularly hold advice sessions at Greenway.
David Clapham said: “We are very pleased that businesses can access the advice they need to grow and develop on the spot at the Greenway Centre.
“One of the fascinating things about running a Business Centre of this kind is to see how fast innovative businesses develop. To grow from a start-up to a business employing 50 or more in just a few years is quite practical and we and are delighted to help with such growth.”
