As Christmas is right around the corner, what better way to get into the Christmas spirit than catching up with one of our long-term customers, The Elf on the Shelf.   We were delighted five years ago when Santa decided that CapitalSpace Milton Keynes offered the perfect business accommodation for his UK operation, and have been even more delighted to have played our part in fuelling their growth, with The Elf on a Shelf becoming the No 2 Christmas toy on Amazon last year.  But what has Santa got in store for the future?

The Elf on the Shelf has a simple goal: to spread their tradition of sending a special scout elf from the North Pole to help Santa Claus manage his naughty and nice lists: ‘When a family adopts a scout elf and gives it a name, the scout elf receives its Christmas magic and can fly to the North Pole each night to tell Santa Claus about all of the day's adventures. Each morning, the scout elf returns to its family and perches in a different place to watch the fun,’ explains The Elf on the Shelf’s Tobias Spoerer.  ‘Children love to wake up and race around the house looking for their scout elf.’

With growing demand, The Elf on the Shelf needed a central hub in the UK from which to distribute its products from: ‘Santa felt Milton Keynes is an established and centrally located city, with easy access to main transportation links, hence making distribution to our adoption centres easier. We also felt that parking for the sleigh and reindeer was very important, and our CapitalSpace unit is ideally located in this respect.  

With its popularity growing each year, The Elf on a Shelf needed to be assured they would be able to grow without limitations.  CapitalSpace flexible business accommodation offered the ideal solution for

Santa’s vision: ‘If we need extra space on a short term basis, for example when large amounts of stock arrive from September onwards, we are able to rent additional space as required. Santa would like all children to be given an opportunity to adopt their very own scout elf and elf pets. The accommodation we currently occupy gives Santa the space to achieve this vision.’

But how do they measure their success and what are their plans for the future? ‘Santa would like every child to be able to adopt their own Scout elf and associated accessories and pets, which will ensure our business continues to grow. This is why new ranges are constantly being added, for example this year we have Elf pets and Claus Couture.’ 

Being part of a successful business’s growth plans is what motivates us at CapitalSpace – but it’s even more of an honour when the client is no less than Santa himself!
