There are many ways of measuring business success, but one of them has to be staff retention.  The loyalty of CapitalSpace staff is one of the ways we know we’re getting things right: more than 60% of our employees have been with us for more than five years.

The CapitalSpace success story

Since CapitalSpace first started trading in 1999, we have expanded to nine business centres across the South East, employing a total of 40 people.  Of these, 61% have been with the company for more than 5 years, with 29% having passed the 10-year milestone with CapitalSpace.

Why high employee retention is good all round

High staff retention rates suggest many things about a business:

  • a positive working environment
  • good relationships between managers and staff
  • good job satisfaction
  • clear organisational direction
  • effective management
  • an investment in people so they can grow in their roles and within the organisation.

Retaining good staff is also good for business, as it means you can substantially reduce the costs involved in hiring and training new staff, along with the those associated with loss of talent and organisational knowledge.

So why do our staff stay for so long?  We asked a couple who have both been with us for more than ten years for their views:
