A commitment to clinical expertise underpinned by excellent service is helping Kent Hearing, based at Churchill Square in Kings Hill, build a successful business.  We caught up with them as they plan the next stage in their growth to find out about their plans for the future and how they measure success.

An extensive skillset

If you’re suffering from loss of hearing, you’ll want to know that you’re in expert hands and that you’re being seen to by professionals who have had a lot of experience with audiology. Creator of Kent Hearing, Priya Carling, has been working in the field for 22 years and prides herself on her duties to her patients: ‘I trained in South Africa (dual-trained in Audiology and Speech-Language therapy), and completed my Doctorate through an American University. I have been a senior clinician and head of department in both the NHS and the private sector. I then went on to spend 7 years at UCL Ear Institute as a senior lecturer and director of education.

‘My academic, clinical and management experience gives me a very wide breadth of experience, knowledge and skills. I am committed to using this in my practice to offer patients not just the latest technology and procedures, but also making sure I personally deliver the very highest standards of service and care.’

Accommodation that ticks all the boxes

In order to offer the care that suits her patients, the location of her clinic had to be able to facilitate their needs. Churchill Square was all that Kent Hearing needed when setting up shop: ‘I moved in in October 2017. The location is ideal as it is accessible for patients in the Malling and Tonbridge areas, and the buildings are also wheelchair accessible. There is sufficient free parking which is safe even for out-of-hours working. The use of the meeting rooms, which are serviced, is well priced and a very important feature for me for future development of the services offered.

‘The centre staff are incredible! They are super helpful and efficient and have played a huge role in my decision to start my business here. The facilities are modern, clean and well-maintained. Having to pay a single bill for everything is a big help administratively. It is very important for me that my mail and parcels can be delivered even when I’m not in, as I have other clinics and work off-site. The image of CapitalSpace is also very professional and this suits our clinical brand. I will be moving to bigger premises soon when Building 80 is ready, and it is good knowing that there is always the option to expand if needed.’

All about the patient

Priya’s ambitions for the future are no less than to be a centre of excellence in audiology and hearing for families, medical practitioners, schools and other relevant organisations in the mid Kent area: ‘I want to keep the business small, offering expert and highly personal individualised care, using my expertise and experience to give the best treatment and advice to patients, rather than build a bigger chain with less personalised service.’

Priya will continue to measure Kent Hearing’s success in a number of ways:

  • Evidence-based outcome measures , for example, questionnaires specifically developed to compare hearing technologies and treatments for patients
  • Happy customers who can see the difference that treatment has made to their lives
  • Patient audits, surveys and feedback
  • Customer referrals – if one person is happy they will usually tell their friends and family.

We’re delighted that a business woman who plans to establish her clinic as a centre of excellent has chosen our business accommodation to facilitate her dreams and growth.
