Community is one of the most important values across all our business centres.  That’s why we do whatever we can to support charities in the areas where we operate, especially ones that care for those in need.  True to this ethos, staff and customers Colchester Business and Seedbed Centre took part in a fundraiser for St Helena Hospice on 20th December.

A huge success

Business Centre Manager, Gemma Brett, and Site Manager, John Waylen, raised £289 by creating a charity raffle for Seedbed Centre customers which was drawn just before Christmas. Gemma said: ‘This year we decided to hold a Christmas charity raffle at The Colchester Seedbed & Business Centre for St Helena’s as it’s very close to our hearts.

‘We are keen to support the valuable work and care they provide within the local community of Colchester. We raised an incredible £289.00 in ticket sales and we would like to thank our customers and their teams for their generous contributions and support.’

A well-earned donation

Based in the town, St Helena Hospice helps local people with an incurable illness to live well and die with dignity and choice, either at home or at their 15-bed inpatient unit and two supporting units. Knowing CapitalSpace and our customers helped raise money for such a caring and supportive charity was hugely satisfying.

Lizzie Deed, Corporate Fundraiser at St Helena Hospice, wrote a lovely thank you letter saying: ‘The money you have donated could pay for a triage nurse for two days, assessing the needs of newly referred patients, making sure they can access the services that will benefit them the most. Without you and people like you, we would not be able to raise the necessary funds to help and support the people that need us. Thank you once again for your continued support of the hospice.’

St Helena Hospice needs £8.9 million a year, two thirds of which is raised by the local community.  We look forward to doing what we can to help in the future.
