Tonbridge and Malling MP Tom Tugendhat is due to officially open our latest addition to the Churchill Square Business Centre in Kings Hill, West Malling, on Wednesday 30 May.

The £3.6m Building 80 houses 30 new offices for companies of up to ten people, new centralised reception facilities and air-conditioned meeting rooms to complement the existing offices and to provide expanded space for more than 150 small- and medium-sized enterprises already on site.

‘There has long been a shortage of good-quality business accommodation in Kent, and it’s a situation that is only getting more acute, with the pressure for more homes meaning that many offices are being converted to residential use,’ explained managing director Peter Boam.  ‘We’re hoping that our investment in Building 80 will go some small way to offset that, providing 30 start-up and growing businesses with affordable, flexible accommodation that they can scale up and down as their needs change.  We know it’s a formula that works and really helps business owners to achieve their goals, which is why we have such high occupancy at all our centres across the South East.  We’re delighted to be able to offer even more entrepreneurs in Kings Hill and West Kent the chance to fulfil their dreams with bespoke accommodation designed for businesses of the 21-st century.’

Nicolas Heslop, Leader of Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council, commented: ‘CapitalSpace has done an excellent job in expanding the offer at Churchill Square and providing new high-quality office accommodation that supports our small business community and gives them a great platform to grow and flourish. The fact that these new offices are now fully occupied after such a short period of time demonstrates clearly that there is a huge demand for well designed, modern offices for small and start-up businesses. Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council wishes CapitalSpace and all the businesses that are starting a new journey at Churchill Square all the best for the future.’

Work began on Building 80 at the beginning of last year, with the first customers moving in just before Christmas.  ‘We’re delighted that we managed to keep on schedule and minimise the disruption throughout the build to our existing customers, some of whom were keen to move into Building 80 as soon as it was finished,’ commented Churchill Square Business Centre Manager, Sue Billings.  ‘It’s great to have custom-built facilities from which to manage the smooth operation of all of Churchill Square, as well as the meeting rooms that are available to all our customers, including those who use our virtual office services.’

Guests at the official opening on 30 May will include The Worshipful the Mayor of Tonbridge and Malling, Cllr Pam Bates; Kent County Council Cabinet Member for Economic Development, Mark Dance; Churchill Square centre manager, Sue Billings; and numerous Building 80 customers.
