You’re in charge of running a busy hospital and suddenly you’re faced with a shortage of nurses but don’t want to pay through the nose, what do you do? How it began  

Two years ago, the founder of Urgent Nursing, Terry Dolan, saw a gap in the market; bigger nursing agencies were charging very high rates and were taking a lot of the money for themselves, rather than giving more to the nurses. Sean Burbage, senior nursing consultant at Urgent Nursing, said: ‘When other agencies can’t meet the demand, we step in and source the nurses that are needed. We have a lot of nurses available at any time of the day. All our nursing staff are reliable and professional and are ready at a moment’s notice. We’ve managed to achieve this flexibility by paying the nurses a more attractive salary without charging such high prices to our clients.’ 

Setting up shop  

Urgent Nursing has grown quickly over the two years they’ve been in business and needed an office to call home: ‘We moved into the Seedbed Centre in Loughton at the beginning of the year and everything has gone very well. The process of moving in has been very smooth thanks to the CapitalSpace team, who have been very helpful and friendly. They are always available to sort out any of our issues. We also really like the location as a lot of our team are close to Loughton. ‘ 

Continuing to expand  

With a team of 10 and many satisfied clients, Urgent Nursing are looking to grow the business further: ‘We’ve had a good couple of years and look forward to more. We are always looking for new talent to join us and help the business continue to grow. We hope, in the future, to move into another industry where staff are needed at a moment’s notice, as we’ve proven that we can meet demand when it’s needed at fair prices and think that more people should benefit from that.’
