St George’s Business Park  is proud to announce that we are sponsoring the Swale Business Awards again, this year.

Now in its thirteenth year, the Swale Business Awards is a well-established prestigious occasion in the Kent business calendar. The awards are focused on showcasing and elevating the enormous variety of thriving local businesses and celebrating their successes. Whether it is entrepreneurs, a small business or a community-minded venture, each year the ambition and achievements of businesses located in Swale, Faversham, Sittingbourne and Sheppey are championed on this exciting night. This year’s awards ceremony is taking place on 18 October at the Kent Event Centre in Detling.

Every year, categories include Small Business of the Year, Impact in the Community, Entrepreneur of the Year, Employer of the Year and, of course, Swale Business of the Year. We are looking forward to seeing what this year’s awards have to offer and meeting the local business owners flourishing in the Swale area. You can read about other current entrants for 2019 here .

Of the 24 finalists last year, the standout overall winner of the awards was Unipet International . You can view more about the last year’s shortlisted businesses and the category winners here .

Want to enter the Swale Business Awards 2020?

Although entry for this year has now closed, if you are interested in being in the running for next year’s awards, set your calendar reminders as you must register online and submit an entry form, typically from early spring (this year entries could be submitted from the end of March). Each of the finalists is then visited by the judges and interviewed, before entrants are shortlisted ahead of the awards night.

Judging criteria is not a matter of ticking boxes but, rather, standing out from the crowd. Swale Business Awards Chair, Brian Carey, said: "We are looking for passion in the business – it's about finding the hidden jewels in Swale. We are also looking for good, solid businesses with good financials. Most of the time, judges come out of a meeting with entrants feeling absolutely wowed by what they have heard – or feeling underwhelmed.”
Carey notes that businesses that sell themselves and show effort and energy have a good chance of being shortlisted: "It depends on how enthusiastic the presenters are - there has to be a passion and an ability to sell your business. People need to spend time on their applications.” Carey also mentions identical, photocopied applications from the previous year will be discarded. Find out more about entering here .
