Modifying the business model to suit the times
It’s just as well Kings Hill entrepreneur Portuguese-born Raquel Amado has a naturally sunny disposition. When national lockdown was declared just a month after the February launch of her medical aesthetics business in Churchill Square Business Centre, she needed it. “My patients are my driver,” she says, “Boosting their confidence and making them feel happy makes me happy. Ensuring that all of my patients go home with a positive experience and great results is my primary goal.”
It was this desire to keep connecting with and serving her patients that saw Raquel adapt over the four months of lockdown by offering online consultations and blogging enthusiastically from her website. She reopened in July, offering virtual pre- and post-treatment consultations and staggered appointments to allow for room sterilisation and ventilation.
A range of non-surgical cosmetic procedures
Much of Raquel’s sensitive way with patients springs from the fact that she, too, knows what it’s like to live with difficult conditions. The aesthetic issue that’s particularly close to her heart – and for which she offers treatment - is alopecia. “Suffering personally from it myself, it only made sense to offer treatment that could help others,” she says.
Ideal setting for the business
Raquel has nothing but praise for her Capital Space home at Churchill Square. “Not only am I based in the heart of Kings Hill, but the set-up also adds to the professional feel of the business and I benefit from the wider exposure the site enjoys. Plus, I’ve got all the amenities and support I need from the staff here. I’m looking forward to 2021 and being able to welcome patients back on-site, with some new treatments available to them, too.”
