Croydon start-up: Homeflo
Homeflo is a new home services start-up company based at our Capital Business Centre in Croydon. Managing director, Marlon McFarlane, says, “We provide comprehensive packages for when things go wrong in the home. We have been based at the Croydon centre since the end of November 2020.”
The Homeflo team are settling in well, enjoying the collaboration and friendly atmosphere with others at the site. Marlon comments, “The other businesses on site helped us get settled in, and everyone is really polite.”
Being at the starting line of his business, having a flexible accommodation was really important to Marlon, as the company could fluctuate in size.
“The selling point for coming to Capital Space was definitely the opportunity for easy expansion in next six to eight months due to the monthly licence. It seemed perfect for a start-up.”
Lessons learned from 2020
The issues of the pandemic and subsequent lockdowns have had many repercussions for businesses. Fortunately, much of what Marlon and his team do is based online, allowing them to continue operating in a safe way.
“A lot of our business is online sales, so we haven’t been adversely affected unlike a lot of other small businesses. Running a business during these times takes resilience and patience,” comments Marlon.
Making a business plan
Despite ongoing changes as effects of the pandemic unfold, Marlon is remaining positive.
“We plan to grow significantly, and our ultimate goal is to become an established home services company,” says Marlon, “In the next three years we want to be UK-wide, rather than just London focused as we are at the moment.”
Starting a business certainly takes integrity, and in these times of fluctuation and change, even more so. Homeflo’s arrival at Capital Business Centre is an exciting move for the business, and we can’t wait to see how their business will grow during 2021.
