Customers and staff at Churchill Square Business Centre enjoyed a fabulous 20th birthday party extravaganza – despite torrential rains threatening to derail celebrations.

Despite the inclement weather, 200 business owners and their teams showed up in support of the festivities at Kings Hill to mark the 20th anniversary of the site.

Our honourable guest, Mayor Bell

We were delighted to host the Mayor of Tonbridge and Malling, Councillor Sue Bell, who attended the event to show her support for Capital Space and the local businesses that we accommodate at Kings Hill, Maidstone in Kent.  Unfortunately, local MP: Tom Tugendhat, of Tonbridge and Malling was unable to join us as, only two days before on 6th September, he was appointed by the new Prime Minister Liz Truss, as Minister of State. Congratulations to Mr Tugendhat on his new position.

We were honoured by the recognition that Mayor Bell gave Capital Space in all the work that goes behind the scenes in providing the highest quality flexible workspace solutions and support to local businesses.

Championing our customers who are vital to our success

We were thrilled that over 170 of our clients and their guests came to celebrate our big day and we were so pleased that they came out, braving the rain. They enjoyed live music from singer Mat Roberts and complimentary BBQ food from Thyme 2 Dine , a local café caterer, whilst delicious ice creams supplied by One-Shot .

As promised, we presented awards to some stand out customers. You’ll know from reading some of our other blogs, that we always like to celebrate our client’s big achievements. However, we decided to take a slightly different route and recognise some of the everyday wins of our residents, such as the biggest joker category: the customer who always seems to make our receptionists smile. So, without further ado, we can now announce the winners of Churchill Square’s first ever customer awards:

  • The person guaranteed to dish out the best banter – Alexandra Metcalf from Metcalf Wealth Management Limited
  • The longest serving onsite customer – Kent Medical Imaging Ltd
  • The longest serving virtual customer – Elmac & Associates Ltd
  • The most called company keeping our switchboard busy – Kent Hearing Ltd
  • The biggest ray of sunshine on the square – Samantha Henderson from Tuckers Tax
  • The company most fuelled by caffeine – Studious Ltd
  • Being the square’s greatest movers & shakers – Hakuhana Inc. Limited
  • Taking over Churchill Square one office at a time – Optomany Ltd
  • Being the biggest shopaholics & online purchasers – The Medical Warehouse Ltd
  • The company most fuelled by fizzy drinks & snacks – Just Advice Solutions TA Absolute Military

Nothing but praise for Capital Space

Our residents were brimming with positive feedback about the sense of unity and kinship within the Churchill Square Business Centre. Emma Cockerill, of Cirpro said: “The staff are really friendly, the facilities are great, and you can meet other businesses.”

Indeed, 20 years would never be possible without the constant hard work of our staff, and it was lovely to see this recognised:

“We were attracted to the square by the price but have been wowed by the staff and the fact they go above and beyond. They help to create the sense of community here,” commented Steve Anderon, of Just Advice Solutions .

Churchill raises over £200 for charity

We wanted to use our anniversary as an opportunity to help raise money for our two chosen charities: Abigail’s Footsteps and Slide Away. The raffle was a huge success and raised over £200 which will be split equally between the two charities. Quality Fire Safety Management Limited were the lucky customers who won a beautiful luxury hamper.

Our Capital Space founder, Peter Boam who was present for the party said, “It’s a proud moment to have reached this milestone, as the recent Covid-19 pandemic hit some of our residents extremely hard. The fact that most have been able to remain with us or make use of our virtual workspace provision is wonderful. It’s a testament to our Capital Space team who work tirelessly in helping to manage such a flourishing business environment for start-ups and small businesses to establish and grow. I am passionate about this business and am always pleased to watch our clients go from strength to strength.”
