Saturday, May 6th, 2023, marks the Coronation of a new Monarch, His Majesty King Charles III, the first coronation since Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. To mark this historic occasion some of our Capital Space business centres are hosting parties for their customers to enjoy. Below we share how we are celebrating, along with some ideas for how you and your family could celebrate this event.

How Capital Space are celebrating this historic occasion

Waterhouse Business Centre

On Thursday 4th of May between 1pm and 2pm, our Chelmsford location business centre will be hosting a party in the courtyard to celebrate this historic event. They will be serving sausages and chips as well as jelly and ice cream – some English favourites!

Milton Keynes Business Centre

On Friday 5th of May between 11am and 12:30pm, Milton Keynes Business Centre will be hosting a coronation cake and tea party. There will be a variety of cakes, including fruit cake, lemon drizzle cake, and Victoria sponge, which you can enjoy while sipping prosecco or a choice of soft beverages.

They will also be raising money for Harry’s Rainbow , an amazing charity which helps to support families that have suffered incredible loss through regular support groups, activities and trips, and individual tailored support.

Loughton Seedbed Centre

Our Loughton Seedbed Centre will be offering a classic British treat, as they serve up scones with jam and fresh cream as well as a Victoria sandwich cake. They will also be asking for donations for their charity – Mind in West Essex – a wonderful organisation which works with local secondary schools to promote wellbeing and resilience.

Greenway Business Centre

Our Greenway Business Centre is decorating their reception with bunting and offering free cupcakes – yum!

How you can celebrate:

With another bank holiday on the horizon and a new King to celebrate – how will you be celebrating the King’s Coronation?  We’ve put together a list of some ideas on how all the family can celebrate this event!

Create your own bunting with your team

If you’re a pro with a sewing machine, then some simple red, white, and blue bunting would set the tone perfectly and be inexpensive to make with a few metres of plain fabric. If sewing isn’t your thing, then you could cut out some flag shapes from red, white, and blue paper and make some fun paper bunting instead. It would be perfect to decorate the office during this time.

Red, white and blue outfits in the office

Ask everyone to come to your Coronation party wearing red, white, or blue, or even all three. It could be something as simple as a tie. You could even have a day before the coronation where everyone comes into the office wearing these colours.

Afternoon tea for lunch

There aren’t many things more quintessentially British than an afternoon tea. Think cream cheese and cucumber sandwiches with home-baked scones and lots of jam and cream. Make sure there’s a lovely pot of tea on the go too. A fantastic way to get into the mood is by having lunch with your team as an afternoon tea.

Bake a cake for the team

For a Coronation cake, it just has to be a Victoria Sponge. You could make some mini versions if there are only a few of you. Experts with icing might want to decorate their cake to match the theme too, so stock up on red, white, and blue food colouring. Then you can bring it into the office to share with your staff.

We look forward to bringing the Capital Space community together to share food and drinks while celebrating the King’s coronation. Keep a look out on our socials for pictures from the events. We hope you have a great bank holiday!
