Being eco-friendly has been a core part of our business ethos since we were founded over 20 years ago. We are passionate about the environment, and we want to do everything we can to make sure future generations have a clean, healthy world to live in. This is why we are always thinking about different ways we can improve our carbon footprint as a business and for our customers. Below we share our latest initiatives.

Recycling old pallets to the local community

Our Milton Keynes and Croydon teams are reaching out to their local allotment community to offer them free untreated pallets for upcycling.  These pallets, which would otherwise be destined for disposal, are now being transformed into valuable and functional items for their own local areas. This approach not only reduces the burden on landfills, but also fosters a culture of resourcefulness and environmental consciousness, which is why all our other business centres have plans to follow suit with this initiative where possible.

What happens to recycling waste at our business centres

IT equipment recycling took place at St George’s Business Centre in Sittingbourne and Capital Business Centre in Croydon during February and our Milton Keynes Business Centre is set to have their next IT recycling event this summer. By hosting this event it allows our customers to have a positive impact on the environment.

Continuing on technology recycling, our VoIP supplier Holler are collecting defunct Avaya phones and system cartridges for recycling as we have migrated to new VoIP phones.

Coffee – for many of us - is a vital fix during our workday and so because of this we have decided to investigate how left-over coffee grinds from our meeting rooms can be recycled and potentially offered to customers or visitors of the business centres for further uses, such as compost or pest repellent.

Adding some colour and life to our business centres

Our Capital Business Centre is undergoing a transformation… It is being seeded with an array of beautiful wildflowers in attempt to increase the site’s biodiversity and wellbeing for staff and customers . Following in their footsteps is our Milton Keynes Business Centre who are also planting wildflowers and are looking into reusing pallets as wall plant supports.

At our Sittingbourne business centre, the previously planted spring bulbs have bloomed and there are plans to plant more wildflowers this year for the summer season. Alongside this, we are installing, a recycled picnic bench for our customers to enjoy during the summer months – perfect for taking some time away from the screen and enjoying a good al fresco break at our Loughton Seedbed Centre an additional birdbox is being discussed to encourage wildlife to enrich the outdoor space.

Developing eco-friendly workspaces wherever possible is part of our DNA , so please get in touch for a tour of your local Capital Space business centre to see these initiatives for yourself! Please call 0800 107 4667 or email
