In today's internet-driven economy, your customers’ online reviews can make or break your small business. Your reputation is vital and according to Luisazhou’s research, 81% of internet users report that they are likely to check Google Reviews before they visit a business in person. Reviews not only attract customers, but also provide you with a good insight of what is happening in your business and allows you to improve it accordingly. Here we explain four ways to make the most of your customer reviews and make a positive impact on your business.

Encourage reviews to be made

If you want to encourage positive reviews for your business, try asking people who are happy with their experience of your product or service if they would be willing to leave an online review. Aim to ask for the feedback when they are at their most positive about your business. Getting people at the point of sale, or when they have just had contact with your or your business means that they will better remember what they would like to feedback in a review.

Ways to capture customer reviews

There are many ways that you can capture feedback and some of the easiest are as follows:

  • Put a QR code on the physical receipt or near the building exit, so that they can scan this directly after the transaction.
  • Offer a feedback form, if you have clinic in a waiting area, as your customer can do this whilst waiting or after their appointment.
  • Add a link in a follow up email after transaction, in the confirmation or order or despatch note – this could be using a third party such as Trust Pilot or Google Reviews .
  • In the product packaging, you could leave a thank you note that also requests an online review if you are happy with the service.
  • Perhaps inspire them to share photos or videos of themselves using your product or service so other potential customers can see what they are talking about firsthand to a platform like YouTube ; this will make it easier for others to feel confident in making an informed decision before purchasing something new themselves.

Build confidence in your brand

A customer’s positive opinion of your business can be far more powerful than targeted marketing and their impartiality plays a huge factor in building a potential customer’s trust.

Encouraging a large number of people to talk about your products helps to increase your credibility and reputation through word-of-mouth. Every new, positive review you receive makes your business appear more accessible and reliable to potential customers. In fact, consumers are reported to spend 31% more on products or services that have excellent reviews as stated in a report provided by LuisazHou.

Discover your strengths and weaknesses

Customer reviews are real-time data points that show you exactly how people experience working with you, whether it is through phone calls or email correspondence. This gives you valuable insights for improving the customer experience and increasing revenue.

This allows you to see which areas need development within your business. It may be that you implement training for employees to improve some poorer reviewed work aspects or reward those for maintaining the brand identity and credibility.

Customer reviews are a powerful marketing tool

Customer reviews are a brilliant organic marketing tool. These can be leveraged across your website by highlighting the positive reviews every few months in a blog to help to boost your SEO and your business’ reputation.

You can also use tools such as Elfsight which provide a way to showcase live Google reviews straight onto your website – a great way to show 5 Star reviews from existing customers to convert new customers whilst they are on your page.

We hope these tips help you to see the value in online reviews and allow you to successfully leverage the feedback you get.
