Work to put right flood damage at the Capital Enterprise Centre is due to begin at the end of August. A detailed assessment has identified the replacement and redecoration that is needed and the major part of this work should be completed in the first half of September.

A number of teams will be brought in to undertake the refurbishment, with several units being tackled in parallel. Work will be carried out at a time which is most convenient for tenants.

Investigation has shown that the flooding took place after the main town drains filled to capacity following unprecedented rainfall, which led to a heavy flow of water being channelled along Carlton Road and into our site. Consequently we were flooded even though a much enhanced drainage system had been installed at the Capital Business Centre during construction. CEC is now looking at how the site can be further protected either by a flood barrier or by the provision of a site where storm water can be stored until the town drainage system can accept it.

David Clapham has written a second letter to all the traders affected by the recent flood. Click here to read the contents of the letter
