Frank Lampard, Ashley Cole, Joe Cole and fellow players in the Chelsea first team have signed up to support CEC Centre Manager Leigh Kedwell in fund raising for Help for Heroes. The Blues took time out from training to sign a football to be auctioned for Leigh’s Help for Heroes campaign.

Former gunner Leigh was delighted when Peter Rivers of Linkmore Management used his extensive footballing contacts to quickly line up the autographs.

Leigh says: “This was great news and it’s tremendous to have support like this from companies in our Centres. Peter Rivers’ firm is based at the Waterhouse Business Centre in Chelmsford and he is also working on other football memorabilia that we can use in fund raising.”

Leigh is Centre Manager at St George’s Business Park in Sittingbourne and has already organised several highly successful fund raisers for Help for Heroes. More are planned and he will sprint to the finish of his fund-raising with a marathon charity bike ride across Northern France at the end of May.

Help for Heroes aims to provide long-term solutions to the problems faced by those with long-term injuries. The charity supplements and enhances available facilities so that those in rehabilitation get the very best care and treatment. Servicemen and women need long term support to recover from their injuries and to rebuild their careers.

Leigh’s marathon bike ride will take him 350 miles across Northern France ending at Dunkirk on the 70th anniversary of the WW2 evacuation. Nearly £1m was raised through the 2009 Help for Heroes bike ride and the 2010 cyclists hope to match or better this target.

If you would like to help with fund raising or sponsor Leigh’s ride either contact him direct at or speak to your Centre Manager or member of staff and they will put you in touch. You can follow Leigh’s progress on
