Former gunner Leigh is now racking up training mileage on his Canondale Quick CX hybrid bike. The bike is being customised and serviced for him by Renham’s Cycle Centre in Folkestone which is supporting his ride.

Leigh says: “The response to fund-raising has been tremendous and I would like to say a big thank you to all those who have contributed. The count down to the start of the ride is coming up fast and we are now finalising all the details.

“It’s going to be a major event with national press coverage and we hope that 2010 can be another record breaking year for the charity ride.”
Leigh’s charity marathon will take him 350 miles across Northern France starting in Normandy at Le Havre and then cycling through the World War 1 battlefields between Amiens and Arras before finishing at Dunkirk.

Help for Heroes aims to provide long-term solutions to the problems faced by those with long-term injuries. The charity supplements and enhances available facilities so that those in rehabilitation get the very best care and treatment. Servicemen and women need long term support to recover from their injuries and to rebuild their careers.
