Reduced startup costs help first-time entrepreneurs take the leap
Gearing up to start your own business can be quite a challenge with the uncertainty of the potential success of your business hanging over your head. What if we told you that finding a workspace for your business to operate out of, that will help to alleviate some of these concerns? This is something we can make possible, as exemplified by Richard Studd, of Rina’s Café, the exciting new food spot at our Waterhouse Business Centre. Richard shared with us how he and his wife, have turned their dreams into reality, without the financial fears of a long-term lease.
An innovative concept in the café sphere
Newly occupying one of our units at our Chelmsford site, Rina’s Café is pushing traditional boundaries with their unique offering. Inspired by his wife’s Asian roots, Richard shared the idea behind the café:
“We want to provide a traditional English cafe with an Asian twist. My wife is from Indonesia and loves cooking and so she’s very keen to introduce people to Asian and Indonesian cuisine in particular. We’re taking that opportunity by introducing some Asian-inspired dishes into our menu. So that’s what sets us apart really, our mixture of both traditional English food with a little bit of an Oriental twist.”
The flexibility to take the first step
Minimising risk is key when looking to sign up to a workspace for your new business which is what Richard shared drew them to Capital Space: “The month by month rolling contract really attracted us as it gave us the safety net in case things didn’t go well – we knew we would be able to get out.”
He also shared the benefit of not having to consider site maintenance as a result of the support he has received from our team: “It’s really taken away the hassle involved in starting a business, which we probably would have experienced had we set up in a town centre, as the more mundane aspects of running a business such as a café are essentially taken care of.”
A network of support along your journey
Richard explained how he was grateful to our team for their support in promoting the new cafe, as our team acts as an extension.
“The team have been fantastic. They promoted the café and went out of their way to put signage up around the business centre. They also put advertising around inside the buildings for us too. We are really happy to be working alongside the Capital Space team.”
The beginning of an exciting future
Having only opened a few weeks ago, Richard has been overwhelmed with the take up from our customers and, despite it being early days, it’s looking positive, and he believes it is “travelling in the right direction.” He shared their ambitions to “reach more businesses based here and in the surrounding businesses as there is lots of industry surrounding the park itself. We hope to establish ourselves and just get our name known to become the go-to place for good food and good company!”
Community is important to us at Capital Space, whether that’s supporting a space, such as Rina’s Café, which facilitates community interactions and provides added value to our onsite business customers, or building a support network for our customers to lean on when they are embarking on the exciting journey of starting up a business. We hope our customers enjoy Rina’s café as much as we do – we recommend Rina’s delicious chicken noodles and look forward to seeing the café flourish as it becomes more established as a go-to spot on our site.
