Improving business centres across the South East – our newest office improvements
At Capital Space, we know that keeping our business centres up to date is essential to supporting the small businesses and SMEs that call them home. That’s why we’re always working to modernise and improve our serviced offices across the Southeast; from greener energy solutions to workspace upgrades. Here are just a few of the most recent changes we’ve made to help our customers thrive.
Loughton Seedbed Centre
At Loughton Seedbed Centre, we have been investing in essential upgrades to improve comfort and sustainability. In Autumn last year, we began installing new roofing top sheets on the workshop blocks; we are now midway through the second phase, with works extending to studio blocks B and D.
As part of this project, we are also fitting high-grade glass mineral wool insulation; this material is made from 84% recycled glass and has a Green Guide rating of A+; helping restrict heat transfer and regulate temperature; keeping our serviced offices warmer in winter and cooler in summer. The work is being delivered by Industrial Cladding & Roofing Specialists Ltd (ICRS) and represents an investment of over £90,000.
Colchester Business and Seedbed Centre
Our Colchester Business and Seedbed Centre has taken another step forward in supporting SMEs with environmentally friendly infrastructure. As part of our ongoing eco champions initiative, we are due to install solar panels at the centre on blocks B, G and H.
We already generate solar power at our Kings Hill; Chelmsford; Croydon; Harlow; Sittingbourne and Milton Keynes business centres; adding Colchester to the list is a logical next step. Solar panels reduce a building’s carbon footprint significantly. According to the Energy Saving Trust, a typical solar panel system can save over 900kg of CO2 per year. The average carbon payback period for a solar panel is just 1.6 years; making them one of the most efficient green upgrades available.
Churchill Square Business Centre at Kings Hill
Copy At Churchill Square Business Centre in Kings Hill, we have applied for a grant from Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council to fund new heating controls. While temperature may seem like a small concern, its impact on productivity is significant; studies suggest that productivity drops by approximately 2% for every 1°C above the optimal temperature of around 25°C.
With improved heating controls, our customers will benefit from more consistent temperatures year-round; helping staff remain comfortable, focused and efficient.
Waterhouse Business Centre in Chelmsford
Waterhouse Business Centre in Chelmsford has seen a range of aesthetic and functional upgrades. The reception area now boasts a modern new desk; fresh furnishings and ceiling tiles.
This is in addition to the improvements we made at the end of last year, such as:
- Introducing eco-friendly landscaping to create a greener; more inviting workspace
- Installing additional solar panels and sensor lighting for increased energy efficiency and security
- Painting external roller shutters to improve the curb appeal of our workshops
- Further landscaping is also planned opposite the café to make the area more attractive and appealing for customers.
