From start-up to success: How Gluck & Co increased their client base fivefold in under three years
500% customer growth in less than three years is a remarkable achievement – but it’s one that Gluck & Co Accountants based in Churchill Square Business Centre have managed through a hands-on approach and partnering with clients. Such meteoric success has meant founder Joe Gluck and his team have already had to move into a bigger office – which they personalised to their needs, with the support of the Kings Hill Capital Space team. It’s an investment they were keen to make to ensure they have the right space to support their future growth plans.
More than compliance – holistic accountancy support fuels business success
When Joe Gluck founded Gluck & Co Accountants in 2022, his aim was simple: to provide owner-managed businesses with accessible, proactive and strategic financial guidance – not just compliance support. In less than three years, the practice has grown from 78 clients to around 450, thanks to Joe’s commitment to delivering a hands-on service that feels more like a business partner than a traditional accountant.
Based in Churchill Square Business Centre in Kings Hill, the firm supports SMEs across Kent and beyond. Services include tax planning, compliance, business advice and outsourced finance solutions – all tailored to make each client’s business run more smoothly and profitably.
Joe qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 2017 and launched the firm after gaining extensive experience with SMEs. His motivation? To create a practice that focused on relationship-building and long-term value. “It’s not just about the numbers,” Joe says. “It’s about helping businesses thrive.”
Investing for future business growth
From day one, Gluck & Co set itself apart by focusing on partnership, accessibility and impact. “We want to be part of our clients’ teams,” Joe explains. “Many accountants focus solely on compliance, but we look at the bigger picture – from tax efficiency to strategic decision-making.”
This people-first approach has helped fuel rapid growth. Joe started the business with support from Charlie, who is also a qualified accountant and now the firm’s Office Manager. The team has since expanded further through a recent acquisition, bringing in additional talent and broadening their client base.
Of course, scaling fast comes with challenges. Joe credits their success to clear values, a shared vision and being unafraid to invest in the right infrastructure – including a move to a larger office to support both current needs and future plans.
Flexible office space provides room to grow
When launching the firm in 2022, Joe knew that Churchill Square Business Centre offered the perfect environment to both launch and grow. “We wanted a professional setting that matched the ambition of the business – and the flexibility to scale up when needed,” he says.
Just two years later, the firm took the leap into a larger office – five to six times the size of their original space – and invested over £20,000 in a high-spec refurbishment. With support from the Kings Hill team on everything from layout to planning permissions, the result is a modern, functional space designed to foster productivity and collaboration.
“The Capital Space team has been fantastic,” Joe says. “The reception staff are always welcoming, and the support behind the scenes helped make the whole transition seamless. Plus, the easy-in, easy-out licence gives us the security to invest without long-term risk.”
Regional ambitions supported by technology and people
Gluck & Co has no intention of slowing down. Having recently completed a successful acquisition, Joe is already looking ahead to potential future mergers to broaden their service offering and expand their regional footprint.
Technology also plays a big part in their strategy: “We’re embracing AI and digital tools to streamline workflows and improve the client experience,” he explains. “But our human approach will always be at the heart of what we do.”
Ultimately, Joe wants the firm to become the go-to advisor for SMEs looking for expert financial support with a personal touch – not just in Kings Hill, but across the Southeast.
Professional tips for prospective accountants and their clients
For those entering the accountancy profession, Joe’s advice is simple: be curious, proactive and people-focused. “It’s not just about technical knowledge,” he says. “You need to understand your clients’ businesses, build strong relationships and always be willing to adapt.” He also recommends getting hands-on experience early and exploring different types of businesses to develop commercial awareness.
And for SMEs seeking accountancy support? “Choose a partner who understands your goals and can grow with you – not just someone who files your returns.”
Gluck & Co’s success story proves that personalised service and smart investment – including in the right office space – can supercharge growth.
