Business accommodation news round up: new staff and centre improvements
Capital Space has raced out of the starting blocks in 2026. We have onboarded new staff, who have joined our centre management teams to ensure we continue to provide exceptional experiences for our business accommodation customers. And we’re continuing with our ongoing programme of improvements to our business centres offering offices, workshops and studios for small and medium-sized businesses.
New facilities handyperson at Churchill Square Business Centre, Kings Hill
Chris Hall has joined the square as new Facilities Handyperson following the departure of Sergio Perelo last month, who has returned home to Portugal. Chris joins fellow handyperson Steve. He’s had to get stuck into work quite literally – gritting the square of dangerous ice to make our pathways safe for customers and visitors.
The 48-year-old father of one lives in Borough Green, which is a short commute to our Kings Hill centre near Maidstone. The job is far cry from his previous desk duties.
“A long time ago, I used to be a data analyst for the Daily Mail based in Kensington. Previous to that, I worked for the Evening Standard and Sky.
“But then everything changed during the pandemic in 2020, and I wanted more of a work-life balance. I became a part time maintenance man for a care home in Orpington. But I applied for this role because it’s local to where I live, it was familiar to me, the hours are good and I am used to being active.”
New Deputy Centre Manager at Croydon
Roberta Longobardo joined the centre management team at Capital Business Centre in Croydon on a 2-year fixed term contract, starting on 5 February, as the second Deputy Centre Manager.
Roberta has most recently been working as an Office Coordinator for a property rental agency where she managed multiple properties across seven councils, coordinating the cleaning and maintenance contractors. Roberta also has experience with Easy Hub, showing serviced offices to prospective new clients.
In her spare time, she loves to read, bake, be active and travel the world, embracing new cultures and adventures.
Business accommodation improvements: Harlow and Kings Hill
We have a rolling programme of improvements to our business accommodation servicing more than 700 SMEs in Chelmsford, Colchester, Croydon, Harlow, Kings Hill, Loughton, Milton Keynes, Sittingbourne and Southend. Our most recent improvements have been at Harlow and Kings Hill.
New kitchens and boilers were installed at Greenway Business Centre in Harlow at the back end of last year, with more work underway to update the bathroom facilities. These improvements to communal facilities are designed to benefit all our workshop, studio and office customers.
Over at Churchill Square Business Centre in Kings Hill we have made investments in the heating system which we are hoping will enable us to keep bills as affordable as possible – something that all our customers will no doubt welcome, given the ever-increasing costs for businesses.
The investment is an extension of work that we undertook in 2024, adding some controls to the heating system in Building 10. It cost just under £4,000 and decreased our gas consumption in this building by almost 20% (14,511 kwh), saving just over £888 for the year.
Similar works were finalised in 2025 in Buildings 20, 30, 50 and 60 with the help of a £5,000 Business Green Grant from Tonbridge and Malling District Council. If the savings in Building 10 are replicated – i.e. if consumption is reduced by almost 20% – we will save 54,940 kwh per year (cost saving £3,362).
We will be monitoring gas consumption closely after the winter and in 12 months to see if this investment has paid off.
Our business accommodation improvements and new staff are just the beginning of our 2026 plans to ensure quality experiences for customers at all our business centres.
