The origins of JSK Electrical

John had already amassed a huge amount of experience within the electrical trade when he set up the business, starting over a decade before. Working for a number of contractors, John had already built up a great working relationship with our centre teams across various Capital Space sites.

Each business centre has its own management team as well as varying contractors and premises teams. We asked John what was important to him as a Capital Space service provider.

“The centre management teams are the most important part for me as they are my direct contacts when undertaking any work. All teams are incredibly helpful, welcoming and are always available for any queries I might have during a visit.”

He also had some insights about how businesses could benefit from being a Capital Space customer.

“All the centres I work at have a great local presence and, having spoken to many business owners, it’s clear how much support is given to them for business development. The centres are always immaculate and a nice place to be.”

What the future holds for JSK Electrical

John hopes to expand in the next few years, and we were so pleased to hear that he was interested in taking a unit at our Southend site.

“In the next five years, I’d like to further establish my reputation in the local community, in particular with newer technology. I’d like to develop the renewable energy side of the business as well as learn the new methods in producing green hydrogen through renewable electricity.

“As we grow, my plan is to expand into a space at Laurence Industrial Estate.”

Secrets of a decade in the electrical industry

There probably isn’t much that John doesn’t know about electrical services after twelve years and it is refreshing for fellow business owners that his secrets aren’t unnecessarily complex solutions but solid fundamentals.

“First and foremost, it’s about being hardworking and responsible. It’s your actions that make the difference which often leads to those little bits of luck when you need them. Secondly, under-promise and over-deliver where possible. It’s not always achievable but the gratification is worth it when achieved.”

Setting up JSK Electrical during the height of a pandemic was never going to be easy but John gave himself every chance to succeed by leaning on those who could offer great advice.

“When I was thinking about setting up the business, I researched a lot and asked plenty of questions from other business owners in different industries. I also confided in a business mentor who really helped me get the ball rolling in the right direction.”

John has built great relationships with our centre teams and has built a successful business himself despite starting at a challenging time. We look forward to welcoming him as a Capital Space customer in the near future.
