Milton Keynes Business Centre celebrates at national awards
The team that runs Milton Keynes Business Centre celebrated their achievements of the past year as finalists at the SME National Business Awards in London last Friday (7 November). They qualified when they won Gold in the Business of the Year (Less than 50 Employees) category at the SME MK and Buckinghamshire Business Awards 2025.
National SME Business Awards finalists
The SME Business Awards were set up to ‘to raise the profile of industrious, hardworking and enterprising SME’s nationally’. Now in their ninth year, there are 20 categories judged by up to four of the national panel of judges.
We were thrilled earlier this year when we were shortlisted for three categories in the SME MK and Buckinghamshire Business Awards 2025: Business of the Year (Less than 50 Employees), Business of the Year and MK Best Enterprising Business.
Taking home both a Gold and a Silver award from the gala event at the Double-Tree by Hilton Hotel in Milton Keynes in April was an incredible honour, with our Gold in Business of the Year (Less than 50 Employees) qualifying us for the Grand National Finals.
Representing the centre management team were faces who are very familiar to all our Milton Keynes customers: Matt Roberts, Senior Centre Manager; Roxy, Business Support Co-ordinator; Katie, Deputy Centre Manager; and Hayley, Business Support Co-ordinator. Our CEO, Lorraine Lee, and our Marketing Manager, Tina Edwin, joined them at the black-tie event at the QEII Centre in Westminster, London.
A night to remember
There was a fantastic atmosphere at the venue, with SMEs from across the country competing to win an array of prestigious gongs. They included Elvis Idegbekwu, of Peach Care Services – one of our own Milton Keynes customers – who was a finalist in the prestigious title of Business Person of the Year. The company offers a range of domiciliary care services, including respite, live-in and challenging care for elderly customers as well as bespoke childcare services.
We were also joined on the night by another customer, Joe Gilbert of Giraffe Digital, who was an award sponsor and presenter.

Speaking after the event, Matt said: “I really enjoyed the SME National Business Awards finals on Friday night, it gave our team the opportunity to get dressed up and celebrate our gold and silver award wins at the MK & Bucks awards earlier in the year, as well as cheer on some of our customers who also made it to the nationals. It wasn’t our turn to take home the national award, but I am really proud of what we have achieved this year, and the team deserve a lot of credit and my thanks.”
Environmental commitments, innovation and excellent customer service recognised
There were a number of factors that contributed to the award success of Milton Keynes Business Centre. Key among them were:
- Environmental investments: Such as our award-winning Woodside Café, which uses a range of clean technologies. Our investment in low-energy, low-impact solutions helps reduce the carbon footprint of our customers as well as the business centre itself
- Innovation: Our constant evolution in response to changing customer needs, including introducing new onsite storage solutions and upcoming dual-use mezzanine units
- Community involvement: As evidenced by our support over the years for a number of Milton Keynes charities
- Service excellence: Our range of business support services structured to make the lives of our SME customers easier, together with the exceptional customer support offered by the business centre team, has led to strong Google reviews and a loyal client base.
We’re delighted to have celebrated the achievements of so many SMEs who make such a positive contribution to their sectors, their staff and their communities.
