Ventrix IT LTD: Bringing the people back into technology
Scaling a business requires more than just high-speed hardware; it demands a foundation of trust and a team that understands your goals. For Ventrix IT Ltd, a commitment to relationship-driven support and rigorous governance has fuelled rapid growth and earned the company a prestigious award nomination in its first two years of operation. By focusing on the human element of technology, the team is proving that sustainable success comes from being big enough to support, yet small enough to care.
The evolution of Ventrix IT
What was the inspiration behind setting up Ventrix IT, and how did you land on the name?

Michael Horgan said: “We wanted a name that captured the individual cultures and characteristics of our founding/leadership team: myself, Jason, Steve and Chris. Finding a catchy name where the .co.uk and .com domains are both available is incredibly difficult today. We actually used AI to help us brainstorm names that matched our values, and ‘Ventrix’ really caught our eye.
The company launched in October 2024, but our team has worked together for many years. We saw how many managed service providers lose their connection with clients as they scale, becoming increasingly transactional. Our ambition was to challenge that model by building a company that grows while remaining genuinely embedded in our clients’ businesses.”
There are thousands of managed service providers (MSPs) in the UK. What is the Ventrix USP?
Michael Horgan said: “Most MSPs talk about response times and SLAs (service level agreements). Those are ‘bread and butter’, the basics. If you aren’t doing those well, you shouldn’t be in the industry. We identified a gap in the market regarding risk, compliance, and governance. Many SMEs find IT governance a headache, so we do the hard work in the background to ensure our clients are audit-ready 365 days a year. We want to be a strategic partner, not just a helpdesk.”
Finding the perfect workspace at Churchill Square Business Centre
You recently moved into a new office. Why did you choose Churchill Square Business Centre in Kings Hill?
Michael Horgan said: “We were working remotely. We always knew from day one that working remotely was going to be a part of our business, especially since COVID, but I was one of those people who detested home working. I couldn’t do it. I thrived and I survived in an office environment. You can’t replicate the speed of collaborative, face-to-face chat over a video call. When looking for business accommodation in the Medway and Kings Hill area, Churchill Square Business Centre was the obvious choice for two reasons.
The facilities are fantastic; having high-quality meeting rooms right on our doorstep is a huge plus as we plan to host networking events. Secondly, the networking opportunities within the centre are immense. There are so many amazing businesses here, and many of them may have an IT company already, many of them may manage it internally, but it’s an exciting opportunity for us to showcase what we can do as a business and open that networking platform to speak to other businesses. Being part of this community allows us to showcase what we can do while growing alongside other SMEs. So it was kind of a no-brainer for us.”
How has the move impacted your team culture?
Michael Horgan said: “We moved in a couple of weeks ago, and we’ve loved every minute of coming into the office. Having that culture back and being with the team face to face every day, has been great for the team. It has been an exciting step. We have grown from two employees to six, and having the space to grow further was vital. We could have taken a smaller office elsewhere, but Churchill Square gives us the professional environment we need to match our ambitions. We’ve loved every minute of being back together in a physical space.”
How has the move helped you manage your recent growth?
Michael Horgan said: “We’re looking for 30% growth throughout the remainder of this year, and having that office space available is the key thing for us. We could have taken a smaller office, but we know we’re growing, we’re enjoying our journey, and we’ve now got the facilities to grow into. It really was a no-brainer for us.”
Navigating the future: AI and awards
Ventrix was recently shortlisted for the UK StartUp Awards 2026. What does this recognition mean for you?
Michael Horgan said: “Being shortlisted in the ‘Rising Star South-East’ category is a massive milestone. It’s validation of the approach the business was founded on: that businesses don’t just buy IT support, they invest in people they trust. It reflects our focus on client satisfaction and operational excellence from day one.”
With AI being such a hot topic, what advice would you give to other SME business owners?
Michael Horgan said: “AI is perceived as this nice shiny new toy, but you have to look at how your business operates and the industry you’re in. Don’t rush the decision. AI is not going anywhere. Take the time to understand the tool and the value output you’ll get from the investment.
If you do move forward, please go through the correct security channels. You need to ensure your environment is locked down so that an AI tool doesn’t accidentally surface sensitive data, like employment contracts, to the wrong people. Spend time on the governance policies first: define how it should be used, educate your team, and document it.”
Michael’s top tips for entrepreneurs
- Focus on Cultural Alignment: “Recruitment was our biggest challenge. Technical capability alone is not enough; you need people who share your values and can build trusted relationships.”
- Build an Operational Foundation early: “Running a business requires many responsibilities beyond your technical skill: marketing, finance, and compliance. Establish clear processes and internal accountability from the very beginning.”
- Remember the Industry You’re In: “Many people see us as being in the technical services industry, but we are actually in the customer services industry. Put yourself in the customer’s shoes and deliver an exceptional experience.”
By trading remote isolation for the collaborative energy of a professional business centre, Ventrix IT is proving that “people buy from people” remains the most important rule in technology.
