Green initiatives Capital Space has implemented across its business centres

Posted by Sharp Minds on 24th May 2022, 9:17am

As a company, we are always mindful of the vulnerability and value of our ecosystem and we are actively looking for ways to strengthen our environmental credentials and limit the impact our business centres have on our planet. Here’s an update of the green initiatives Capital Space has implemented across its business centres.

Planting for the future

In order to help do our bit for the environment, our Milton Keynes site has planted six cherry trees. Two of the trees were funded by local MP’s and the remaining four were planted by us as a part of the Queen’s Canopy Jubilee project. Planting trees is a wonderful way to help reduce our carbon emissions and simultaneously improves the surroundings of our business centres for our customers.

We have also gained, permission to plant 40,000 wildflowers around our Milton Keynes site and we plan to create a bark path and mini woodland area where bluebells will be planted and bird and bat boxes installed, in the hope to encourage wildlife. Planting flowers not only adds a splash of colour and visual interest to our sites but also improves air quality.

At our Croydon site, there are plans to rewild the border along the railway line. The plan is to encourage more wildlife in this urban centre. We will do this by cutting down the existing shrubbery to promote regrowth of foliage, along with better management of the existing bramble, ivy and shrubs.

Small changes such as these are continually being implemented across our nine business centres, in the hope that we can cultivate a better environment for our customers.

A new way to write

As part of our greener campaign, we will be investing in 1000 new certifiable green-friendly, bioplastic, compostable pens for our meeting rooms to be used across all our sites. Biobased plastics and chemicals are an eco-friendly alternative to traditional, fossil oil made products.

How you can help

Businesses are responsible for 18 percent of CO2 emissions in the UK, so it’s now more important than ever for businesses to go green. Here are some easy ways your business can contribute to a greener environment:

  • Introduce a recycling scheme in your office building
  • Set up green transport schemes for staff to encourage uptake
  • Improve air quality with indoor plants
  • Go paperless
  • Recycle your electronics and batteries
A few simple changes can make a huge difference in helping your business grow towards a more sustainable future. If you’re a green-friendly business looking for a like-minded office space provider, please get in touch .
