Meet Churchill Square’s Newest Resident: Kings Hill Barbers
Kings Hill’s most recent arrival: barber, Salah Ahmed might be new in town, but he is anything but new to the business. With 19 years under his belt, Salah isn’t waiting for customers to come to Kings Hill Barbers – he’s taking his craft straight to the streets.
A barber without borders
For local residents seeking a high-quality men’s grooming experience in Kings Hill, Kings Hill Barbers offers an expert touch with a personal feel. From classic cuts and skin fades to hot towel shaves and beard trims, founder Salah Ahmed brings nearly two decades of experience to every appointment.
Originally from Kurdistan, Salah’s journey into barbering began in his village, cutting hair for friends. After moving to the UK in 2001, he worked across the Midlands and the South East – including London – before settling in Sittingbourne. In 2019, he began working in Sevenoaks, but after years of refining his technique under others, he decided to set up his own business.
His client base includes Kings Hill residents and professionals working in the local area, offering an accessible and affordable grooming solution for the community. With “cheaper than average prices” and a loyalty card scheme, Salah ensures value for repeat customers.
His location at Churchill Square Business Centre in Kings Hill puts him right at the heart of the neighbourhood.
Branching out
Opening a barbershop inside a business centre may seem unconventional – but for Salah, it was the perfect move.
He’s turned his ground-floor office suite in Building 70 into a striking, stylish space: black faux-leather chairs with gold trim, wood panelling, and a widescreen TV for customer comfort. It’s more than a grooming space – it’s an experience.
Now that the look has been perfected, he sets out: armed with 500 flyers and a good pair of walking shoes, he’s been distributing leaflets around Kings Hill to drive footfall – and complementing that hustle with digital efforts via Instagram and the hyperlocal NextDoor platform.
Like many new entrepreneurs, Salah has faced the challenge of launching with limited brand awareness – but he believes that consistency, confidence, and visibility will win the day.
Flexible business accommodation
Salah’s decision to base his barbershop at Churchill Square Business Centre in Kings Hill was driven by three main factors: location, accessibility, and flexibility.
“The office is in a good location. It’s in front of the road and the path and it’s on the ground floor, which is easy for pensioners,” he said.
Choosing a workspace with a flexible monthly contract allowed Salah to invest in his business without the burden of a long lease. With fully managed facilities, reception services, and ample parking, Churchill Square offered everything he needed to hit the ground running.
It’s a great example of how Capital Space’s business accommodation model supports small businesses with the freedom to grow – and adapt – at their own pace.
Looking forward
Now that Kings Hill Barbers is open for business, Salah is focused on establishing a loyal customer base through proactive local marketing and social media outreach.
His strategy is simple but powerful: offer a great experience, make people feel welcome, and keep prices fair.
As he builds awareness, Salah is also open to future growth; with a passion for his craft and the right business infrastructure in place, the future looks sharp.
Salah’s Business Tips
Starting a business isn’t easy – especially when going solo – and Salah admits that he feels the pressure to succeed; however, what he lacks in certainty, he makes up for in confidence. He’s assured in his skills, loves talking to people from all backgrounds, and believes that if he gets the word out, success will follow.
He also highlights the importance of presentation:
“My barbers’ has to look good – then the customers are happy. Now I need to let people know that I am here.”
His commitment to both quality service and professional appearance is already making an impact – and serves as a reminder that even in a digital age, good old-fashioned hustle still works.
With almost 20 years of hands-on experience, a commitment to quality, and the flexibility of Capital Space’s Kings Hill Business Centre, Salah Ahmed is building his business the smart way – one cut at a time.
