Sectors represented at Capital Space

• In the 700 units across all nine business centres, the top three sectors make up forty-two percent of the total occupancy.
• Eighteen percent are retail, distribution and manufacturing, fourteen percent from construction and ten percent are in the health and beauty industry.
• The next largest area is financial services with six percent.

Our different centres

Location is a crucial factor to consider when setting up a base for your business, especially if you require clients and business partners to visit. An interesting find from our research was that different sectors are more prevalent in specific areas. For example, over fifty percent of the units at Laurence Industrial Estate in Southend are occupied by retail, distribution, and manufacturing businesses- almost twice the amount in any other centre. Another significant statistic is that thirty four percent of the Loughton Business Centre is occupied by construction companies, making it the second largest sector percentage across all sites.

Kings Hill’s Churchill Square Business Centre has the widest variety of sectors, with 23 different industries under one roof. The largest of those sectors is health and beauty, which claims the biggest share at twenty percent.

Just behind Kings Hill in terms of diversity is Milton Keynes who have 20 industries within their business centre. The largest, at sixteen percent is retail/ distribution/ manufacturing, but more evenly spread is recruitment, accounts/ financial services, health and beauty, social care, leisure and IT solutions, all of which range from six to eight percent.

The Chelmsford and Colchester centres sit in line with the overall figures with retail and construction leading the way, but Sittingbourne and Harlow have differences in their top two.  Health and beauty jump into second place with eighteen percent in Sittingbourne and recruitment takes silver in Harlow.
